Greenridge Primary School started the Conversational Chinese and Malay (CCM) programme in January 2008. Lessons are conducted by trained CCM instructors, with resource packages provided by MOE. Lessons cover different aspects of daily communication needs, such as numbers, family members, dates, greetings, etc. At the end of the programme, participants will be given a certificate of participation if they achieved certain hours of participation.
- To provide pupils with an opportunity to learn a third language besides English and Mother Tongue.
- To prepare pupils for communication in the region (Chinese in China, Malay in Malaysia and Indonesia).
At the end of Primary 6, participants will have 60-hour exposure to the third language: 20 hours in Beginner module and 40 hours in Basic module. They may choose to continue with the programme in Secondary schools and JCs, and take an optional proficiency test for certification.
